The Beast is a novel centered around patriotism, telling the story of a soldier who is also a secret agent for Pakistan’s intelligence service. The novel highlights his love for his country and his efforts to protect it from destructive forces while facing personal threats.
The story follows Ibrahim, a secret service agent tasked with dismantling an organization called Black Beast. Ibrahim’s team successfully captures the head of Black Beast and detains him to extract vital information about the organization’s plans to harm the country. To protect their leader, two Black Beast agents, Akbar and Somia, become involved. Akbar, a well-settled man and Ibrahim’s neighbor, proposes marriage to Ibrahim’s sister, which Ibrahim accepts.
Later, Akbar proposes that Ibrahim marry Somia, his sister, who is secretly an agent for Black Beast. This arrangement is meant to help the Black Beast members gather intelligence and secure the release of their leader. However, Ibrahim remains protective of his professional work, and little information is gained from the union. Meanwhile, Somia inadvertently sabotages Ibrahim’s missions by leaking confidential information she overhears.
Thirteen years later, after Ibrahim and Somia have a son named Jan, Ibrahim is killed by Akbar, following the head of Black Beast revealing the identities of the organization’s agents. In retaliation, Jan kills his own mother, Somia. As Jan grows older, he leads an operation against the Black Beast with the help of his imprisoned friends, who had been with him when he killed Somia.
The novel also explores the love story between Jan and Janan, the daughter of Akbar, who lives in Istanbul, Turkey. Jan and Janan were married as children, but after the deaths of Ibrahim and Somia, Akbar abandons Jan. Another subplot follows Inspector Aryan, who is investigating a series of brutal murders involving individuals linked to Black Beast. Jan, known as the Beast Killer, is systematically eliminating those connected to the organization.
In addition, the novel delves into the social issues surrounding Taha Bukhari, a man born as the result of rape, abandoned by his father, and whose mother died because of the trauma. Taha’s life becomes intertwined with Ayesha, who falls in love with him despite his reluctance to accept her love, believing society will never accept him due to his origins.
This vast and complex novel intertwines multiple storylines, but its central theme is about a man who sacrifices his life to protect his country, and how his son carries on his legacy of patriotism and justice.
