Jageer Janam by Areej Shah tells the complicated love stories of two feudal men, Kabir and Dilawar. Kabir is a university student who spends his days in a haze of drinking and meaningless relationships. He’s known for playing with girls’ hearts, pretending to love them only to betray them. But then, he meets Hoor ul Ain, a kind-hearted girl who lives with her uncle after her parents passed away. Unlike the girls he’s used to, Hoor is pure and modest, staying far away from anything improper. Kabir is drawn to her and tries hard to win her over, but Hoor isn’t interested and keeps rejecting him.
The second story revolves around Dilawar, who is the son of a feudal lord named Sikandar Shah. Dilawar has lived most of his life in America, mainly because he’s bitter about his father’s decision to remarry after his mother died. Dilawar has always wanted to marry Eesham, his aunt’s daughter, to honor his aunt’s dying wish. Even though their families are enemies, he’s determined to make it happen, especially since their engagement was arranged when they were children.
This is a story of stubbornness, pride, jealousy, cruelty, and their consequences. It shows how love can change people, either bringing out the best in them or leading them to complete destruction.
