Bas Ik Dagh-E-Nidamat by Umera Ahmed is the story of Momal, a university student, and Asfand, a popular and well-known boy on campus. Asfand is drawn to Momal and proposes friendship, but she harshly rejects him. Hurt by her refusal, Asfand decides to take revenge by kidnapping Momal. He gives her a cruel choice: either marry him or face severe consequences. After this, he releases her.
When Momal returns home, her family refuses to accept her, leaving her helpless. Forced into a marriage with Asfand, she goes to live with him but soon discovers that he already has a daughter, Zashi, from his previous marriage. His wife had passed away earlier. Momal struggles to adjust to this new life and cannot bond with Zashi, treating the child coldly due to her own emotional pain.
The story focuses on how Asfand’s mistake destroys Momal’s life. She falls into depression and deep hatred for Asfand. Throughout the novel, Momal tries to cope with her trauma and even seeks revenge in any way she can. The novel also describes the impact this has on her relationship with Asfand and his daughter Zashi, showing how one wrong decision can lead to lifelong consequences.
